Since its founding in 2015, Swelltek has been rooted in the Raspberry Pi industry, initially working to provide high-quality kits at value prices.
A new direction
In early 2019, Swelltek made the decision to focus on a new vision: creating feature-rich, thoughtfully designed enclosures that would meet the needs of the Raspberry Pi community from hobbyist enthusiast to commercial and industrial users. Just as the team prepared to launch its flagship enclosure, however, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and supply chains ground to a halt.
Pi Shortage
Through the pi shortage, Swelltek prioritized existing customers with what limited Raspberry Pi inventory we were able to get our hands on. As the Raspberry Pi supply chain finally began to recover in 2023, Swelltek was ready to ramp up production and finally share its flagship enclosure with a wider audience. Around that same time, Raspberry Pi shared exciting news with the Swelltek team: the Raspberry Pi 5 was about to be released. Though this was fantastic news for the community, the timing was a setback for Swelltek’s plans for a Pi 4-focused enclosure. Undeterred, Swelltek embraced the challenge, refining their designs to create a versatile solution, the first that would serve multiple generations of the Raspberry Pi.
The result was the Swelltek Rigsby, the first multi-generational Raspberry Pi case—a product of both resilience and innovation.
